Our History

Foster Yacht Sales, Inc. is owned and operated by Jonathan and Janey Foster.  Jonathan has been in the boat business for over 25 years and has been at his current location since 1986.  Unlike many brokers, Jonathan began in the business maintaining and servicing boats.  Therefore, he has an intricate knowledge of the operation and proper maintenance of boats.  Plus, having specialized in used boats for his complete career, he has a vast knowledge of different lines and models, and how well they are built.  In addition, Jonathan is personally involved in the acceptance and inspection of each vessel that comes into our care.  He also developed a program for valuing boats that uses all three books:  ABOS, BUC, NADA, plus a historical valuation of boats that have sold over the past years.  With this knowledge, he is able to forecast what a boat should sell for and thus is able to fairly price the boats in our care.

Janey came to work with Jonathan in 1993.  She is the Web Site developer and manager. She handles most of the office work, including but not limited to insuring that all the title work, loan payoffs, interaction with lenders and documentation firms, as well as closings with both the buyers and sellers.  In addition, she helps Jonathan in determining the values of the boats, plus aids in managing the service division of the business.

We are a family business, so don't be surprised to see our kids, David - 21 years old, and Price - 13 years old, at the business.  We work very hard at integrating our business into our lives and therefore have our kids with us at the business often. 

Our Services

      Brokerage:  We list boats from 22' to 42' that are in excellent condition.  Each boat is inspected by Jonathan before being listed.  He considers not only make and model, but also performance of the boat.  Each boat that comes in by water is tested for performance by Jonathan and then thoroughly inspected from stem to stern by our service department.  Each boat is then completely cleaned and brought up to our standards of "sellable".
